about us
Hi there!
My name is Justyn (pronounced just like Justin for those who are curious) and I am the owner/operator/head honcho of jnh+design.
While our name (jnh+design) has been around since around 2016, I actually did not start off with embroidered goods! I have always been creative/crafty and during my undergraduate years I sold painted goods such as ice chests and canvases and eventually expanded into vinyl decals and calligraphy. I had always wanted an embroidery machine though but at the time, I was still a poor college kid so I never took the plunge.
A few years after graduating, I decided to go back to school to get a Master of Business Administration degree. I was still working full-time in the corporate world and selling vinyl decals on the side during this; however, this all changed when I was laid off due to COVID-19. I took a month (or two) off to just relax, decompress, and figure out what I wanted to truly do with my life. I had always known that I wasn't cut out for the 9-5 life and had always wanted to be my own boss and do my own thing. It was during this time that I decided to dip into my savings account and purchase my very first embroidery machine! I had always wanted to make myself an 'ATX' hat and could never find a design that I liked so I decided in true fashion - "I bet I can just make that myself!"
So I did.
I joined Facebook Groups and watched tons of YouTube videos on how to embroider and how to digitize my own embroidery designs and then finally made myself my very first hat... And my second... And third... And then finally after figuring out the correct placement, I made myself the 'ATX' hat of my dreams!
I was so proud of this hat, that I posted it online in one of the Facebook Groups I was in and immediately had people asking me to make them hats with different designs. And from there, jnh+design just grew and grew. I've now sold thousands of caps and I'm working on expanding our offerings to include more apparel (and hopefully hire someone to help).
And if you read all of my story and have made a purchase, I greatly appreciate you. If you read all that, and said "I'll purchase later, I'm broke right now" - I still appreciate you!
